Friday 14th October:
This is the first group session we had for studio practice. I had Stephen for the discussion and at this moment of time, most of us including me hadn't started our sketchbooks. This was a good discussion because he gave us the help that we can start without being afraid that it won't be perfect. We discussed and shared our ideas and reinforced any issues or questions we might have in regards to our sketchbooks. By the end of this session, I had lots of ideas going but my issue still stands and I didn't know how to begin.
Friday 21st October:
Today was the second group session for studio practice. After feeling slightly confident since last week, I somehow got overwhelmed and went back to square one; Feeling confused and lost with my sketchbook and ideas as everyone gets on. I started to feel some pressure when everyone was showing their sketchbooks and I was still in the process of starting, everyone managed to start in someway shape or form. When it came to me, my sketchbook was still blank but I somehow managed to explain why it's blank and presented a book I was looking at that I borrowed from the university library that was relevant to my ideas. I also tend to use my notebook a lot more to roughly work out my plans for my sketchbook so therefore most of my content was in my notebook that I just needed to transfer over. At the end of today's session, I realised how I just needed to stop fearing and start my sketchbook after looking around everyone else and not worry about it being a mess at the start.
Friday 28th October (Creative Exchange Week):
This week we have no lessons so since last week's session, I managed to get cracking on with my sketchbook. I also managed to do a bit of my primary research by going out and travelling whilst I have the time. The next time I'll see Stephen is when I'm getting assessed so I thought it would be wise to document this day today just to update that I've actually started my sketchbook and there has been an improvement from last week's session. I've also been keeping myself up to date with my blog, for my theory as practice contextual deadline.
Friday 4th November (Assessment Day):
Today was our assessment day for our sketchbook and our blogs; particularly for process and production. I had Stephen assess my work and give me feedback. With regards to my blog, there was no feedback or improvement because I did well documenting every session with images too. With my sketchbook, it was a good start and I had explained what I've done so far. I was told to forget about the brief for a second and just pick something i'm interested in which I can bring forward and include in my work so there's a personal element within our work.
